Artist Bio

From the sunlit rooftops of childhood summers in India, where Sandhya and her sister would sketch their dreams, to Biology Lab observation records adorned with intricate drawings of microbes, plant, animal and human anatomy in senior high, art of drawing had always been her unwavering companion in different forms.

Her professional career began in the IT industry as a Project and Quality Manager, where she spent over a decade living and working in the UK. Her heart, however, remained tethered to the world of drawing and painting. Though she painted sporadically, admiration from friends and family were reassuring of her innate talent, urging her to never let it wither away.

In the last two years, after moving to the US, she embraced an extended sabbatical from the corporate world to fully immerse herself in the realm of art. Her love for acrylic painting and clay works blossomed, as she explored wheel throwing and hand-building techniques. Her artistic style knows no bounds, dancing across a variety of themes. Recently, she has ventured into the expansive realm of large canvases, savoring the freedom they offer.

Nature serves as her boundless muse. When something captivates her soul, she loves to transform it onto canvas with her own unique twists. Brushes and palette knives are her tools of choice, and her affinity for the latter continues to grow.

In 2024, participating in the Vancouver Art and Music Fest was a defining moment for her, where she had the opportunity to showcase her work to a wider audience. Her piece, “Wild Symphony,” left the public awestruck, and the response was nothing short of a cloud nine experience as she recollects.

Some of her other showcases have been:

  • Cascade Park Library, Clark County for an inspiring five months from Aug 24′ through to Dec 24′ where the usual rotation of artists happens every two months.
  • Vancouver Arts Hub, First Friday Art Walk on March 7th 25′

These opportunities and recognition have further boosted her confidence and solidified her devotion to art.

She looks forward to more wind in her art journey as she enjoys every minute on canvas with absolute bliss.
